Electoral College Tie –

A recent CNN article discussed the possibility of an Electoral College tie in the Presidential race.  A tie would occur if Mitt Romney and Barack Obama each receive 269 electoral votes.  There are several scenarios that could lead to a tie in the Electoral College.  A few states that are key in the Presidential race are Virginia, Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.  The race is decided in Congress if both Romney and Obama gain 269 electoral votes and the electors stay with their candidate.  Congress would meet in early January to elect a President and Vice President.  The House of Representatives would elect the President and the Senate would elect the Vice President.  That could result in a Republican President and a Democratic Vice President.
