Reuters Election 2012 -

Reuters provides the latest election news and polling data for races across the country. Current polling data on Reuters Election 2012 indicate that Obama has a 227 to 180 advantage over Romney in the electoral college. However, most of the ten states listed as toss-ups lean towards the Republican. A few of the toss-up states are Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia. The four states account for 68 electoral votes.

Nevada Moves Caucus -

The Nevada Republican party moved their caucus to February 4th. The Nevada GOP had scheduled a January 14th date for the caucus but that would have forced New Hampshire to hold a primary in December. Nevada will still be the first western state to hold a Presidential contest. Also, Nevada Democrats announced that they will hold their caucuses on January 21st.

RNC Raises $7 Million -
12. April 2011 by Jim Sutliff.
Republican National Committee fundraising for March topped $7 million which leaves the RNC with $3.2 million on hand. The Republican National Committee also announced that they hired Angela Meyers as the new finance director. Meyers held the same position with the Republican Governors Association.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus -

Republican National Committee members have elected Reince Priebus as their new Chairman. The Wisconsin Republican Party Chairman received 97 votes and secured the position after seven rounds. Saul Anuzis finished second with 43 votes and Maria Cino finished third with 28 votes.

Michael Steele Drops RNC Race -

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele pulled out of the race for Chairman after four rounds of voting. Steele endorsed Maria Cino for the position but Cino trails Reince Priebus who has 67 votes after five rounds. There are 168 members who vote and 85 votes are required to win election to the GOP Chairman position. Currently, Cino has 40 votes, former Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saul Anuzis has 32 votes, and former Missouri Republican Chairman Ann Wagner has 28 votes.

Third RNC Candidate -

A third candidate has jumped into the race for Chairman of the Republican National Committee. Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Wisconsin Republican party and a former supporter of Michael Steele has taken steps to run. The election will be held between January 12th and 15th at the RNC’s winter meeting. There are 168 voting members that will decide the next chairman of the RNC. It is expected that more candidates will surface in the next few weeks.

RNC Chairman -

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele is expected to face an uphill battle in his attempt to hold onto his post. Saul Anuzis, former Michigan GOP Chairman, has announced that he will challenge Michael Steele in January. It is expected that there will be several candidates seeking the position in the mid-January election. The Chairman of the Republican National Committee serves a two year term.
