Financial Legislation –

The financial legislation has moved out of committee with a 13-10 vote.  Changes are expected to be made during discussions over the next couple of months.  Passage of the bill may happen as early as Memorial Day.

Healthcare Bill Passes –

The healthcare bill passed the house with a 219-212 vote.  This will be a major issue in the 2010 election cycle and is sure to launch many legal challenges.  A second bill regarding student loan programs is still waiting to be voted on tonight.

NRSC Raises $4.6 Million –

The National Republican Senatorial  Committee raised $4.6 million in February.  This outpaced the Democrats committee which brought in $4 million.  The Republican committee has $1.4 million less in cash on hand than the Democrats.
