The Republican party convention opened at 2 pm and immediately recessed until Tuesday. Tropical storm Isaac delayed the Republican convention as it heads towards Louisiana. The National Hurricane Center forecast indicates that Isaac could reach category 2 status by Tuesday night. The keynote address will be given by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie on Tuesday night. Mitt Romney is scheduled to accept the Republican nomination on Thursday night.
